Your Health Matters- COVID Safety Protocols

We are open! 

Our new hours effective February 1, 2021 are:

Monday-Friday: 5am-8pm and
Saturday & Sunday: 8am-6pm

We have all the safety and sanitation protocols in place that we have had all along. View our video below to see how we are keeping you and MHAC employees safe!

  • At this time, all our food and beverage items are “to-go” only and due to capacity restrictions, we are not allowing any guests of any age in at this time.  
  • Masks are required in the club unless in a body of water or showers.  Face shields are an approved  alternative for those who choose them.  
  • We are still providing limited outdoor exercise in our covered area by the outdoor pool for those who prefer this option.  Childcare, steam and sauna services must remain closed at this time, however, we hope to reopen them soon!  
  • We have new massage chairs and beds for you!   It is a wonderful way to supplement your workout routine with some relaxation and recovery!  You can add this service to your account and get a 10-minute massage every single day for only $10.  Schedule with the desk for your complimentary trial massage today!
  • Our regular billing and club policies have resumed.
  • New Aquatic and Group X Schedules

Dear MHAC Members                                                                                                                             
The club will reopen on Monday, January 18th.  At this point, we have exhausted most of our savings to stay afloat to this point, and if we do not open now, this club will not be here to serve this community in the future.  This decision is not about defiance in any way.  Instead, we hear pleas from members every day about how their mental and physical conditions are deteriorating, and we feel a moral obligation to continue to provide health and wellness to our community while still following proven health and safety measures.

January 18th-31st is our 14 day “give back of time” offsetting the days we were closed in late November.  Members will have access to the cardio floor, the weight floor, the basketball gym and pool areas.  All the existing safety protocols will continue, and masks will still be required. Visit our video below to see our how we are going above and beyond to keep you and the employees safe!  Regular billing will resume on February 1, 2021, and we will continue to honor medical freezes which are in place.  Due to very limited club attendance capacities, we are not accepting guests of any kind until further notice. 

We believe that closing the doors forever to over 24% of this community’s population who depend upon us for staying healthy through exercise and wellness is against our mission. We will be opening safely following the guidelines in the “high” risk matrix category.   Please remember that no cases of Covid-19 have ever happened here at MHAC, so we will continue with every aspect of our proven health and safety measures, and we hope to see your smiling faces soon! 
As of February 1st, group exercise classes will resume as will expanded hours of operation and regular family time swim schedules.  The new Aquatic and Group X Schedules will be available to view on the website and at the club as of January 25th.

Dear Members,  
                                                                                                                                           
We know many of you are suffering with not getting your workouts or the ability to care for your own health.  Keeping clubs closed is not following the science as less than 1% of cases even came from fitness related activities, and we believe it is doing more harm than good.   A lawsuit on our behalf and on the behalf of other Oregon clubs will be coming shortly.  Many may ask, why not just open against mandate?  We have considered this, but at this time it puts the club in a precarious position legally and the fines associated with this approach will make surviving long term more difficult.  So, to keep the employees working as much as we can and to offer as many services to members as possible, here is what we will do.

We are opening for “allowed services” on January 1, 2021 as a Thank you for those members who have OPTED IN to support the club.  Allowed services are those activities which other businesses engage in that we can offer.  This is what it will look like:

Our hours of operation at this time offering services only will be: M-F 8a-6m and Sat/Sun from 10a-4p.  
We will be offering: Tanning (for free), spray tanning ($5), Smoothies and snacks to go, pre-recorded fitness classes (available as of Jan 4th), FREE use of the new massage chairs and water massage beds (on order and arriving shortly).  We will have “outdoor exercise” involving the indoor pool and hot tub and outdoor hot tub.  With a garage door open, exercise is considered “outdoors”.  It will be chilly in the pool area, but there will be adult lap swim and open exercise times and family swim times for the kids every single day!  Locker rooms, family changing rooms and showers will all be open for use. See Temporary Aquatic Schedule for pool schedule.  No other exercise options can be offered at this time.

The good news is, that this is where YOU, our member can be a key part of saving your club by opting in to pay your dues.  If you haven't yet opted in and would like to do so, please Click her to Opt In. Finally, we want to assure members that we are not offering services in any way that is unsafe either to the members or the employees.  All the same safety protocols there were in place prior to this recent closure will still be in place.  Masks are still required.  

So, come on in, get a free tan, take a hot tub, and enjoy a take-out smoothie as you go.  This is our last effort to stay solvent before having to seek other less palatable solutions.  Thank you for your support and we will always make every effort to be here to provide health and wellness services to the Sandy community.

Dear Members

Unsurprisingly, Governor Brown has made an official announcement today that will in effect keep Mt Hood Athletic Club closed through the remainder of 2020.

Please be assured that we will continue to use this time to research every option, resource, and avenue to return to serving our members as quickly as possible. We have every intention of opening in some capacity January 1st. More detail to follow.

No action is necessary for you as a member regarding your account at this time. All members accounts are in a temporary freeze status unless you have opted in to continue paying your monthly dues. Members can still opt in. Click Here Please include your name and contact number.

Please note, if your Annual Fee becomes due during the closure, your account will be billed for that portion.

Update 11/30/20

Dear Members,          

While we strongly disagree with Governor Browns decision to shut down clubs and deny Oregonian’s the ability to care for their health in a pandemic while the rest of Oregon’s services can remain open to spread the virus, we now know will be closed until December 18th.  Governor Brown’s new “risk metrics” that replaced all previous phased guidance leaves little room or no room for clubs to operate in a sustainable fashion.  Given the lack of cases of Covid-19 being traced to clubs or spread in clubs, we feel that Governor Brown’s new metrics are discouraging and discriminatory.

During these next few weeks, we are exploring and pursuing every opportunity and/or idea on how to reopen as soon as possible.  We will survive this challenging time and continue to make health, wellness, and fitness services available in the future.

There will be no December dues charged unless you have opted in.  However, drafts will go through for annual fees that become due, any November’s charges on accounts and over-due balances.  Again, when we reopen, you will have the appropriate amount of time you were not able to access the club in November adjusted on the next dues billing whenever that may be.  There is no need to cancel or freeze your membership at this time.

Members may still choose to pay your monthly dues. Click here to opt-In to continue paying monthly dues. Since this shutdown has no firm date in sight, your help is greatly appreciated. These dues go to help cover key salaries and basic operating costs.  We want to be here for you at the end of this.  The support and heartfelt messages we have received via email during this second shutdown has been humbling and so very much appreciated.  We cannot say, “thank you” enough for those members who have opted in already to support this club….YOUR club!

Dear MHAC Members,
                                                                                                                                

 

Friday’s announcement by Governor Brown requiring a two week, “freeze” mandate is devastating news to all of us.  This will require us to close effective November 18th with a planned re-open date of December 3, 2020. 

We feel this order is unjust because according to Oregon’s own Health Department weekly Covid-19 reports, there have been NO cases of Covid traced to clubs in any form.  Our club has had over 44,500 visits since we reopened on May 27, and there have been absolutely NO cases at MHAC!  Due to the heroic efforts of our staff to keep you safe through multiple measures of extraordinary cleaning and disinfecting as well as air scrubbers, personal disinfectant bottles for each member and many more processes put in place, we know the club is safe and the numbers prove it.

This mandate is UNJUSTIFIED and UNFAIR.  Denying people the basic human right to self-determine how to best shore up their health in a pandemic by removing health and fitness services is tantamount to reckless endangerment of public health.  Let the governor know what you think! https://www.oregon.gov/gov/pages/share-your-opinion.aspx 

With this two-week freeze, we know you will have questions. We are going to be minimally staffed during this time except for email responses and maintain the facility.  We hope the following guidance addresses your anticipated concerns:

  1. Adjustments to dues: When we re-open the club, all members will have their dues adjusted to account for the days we have not had our services available.  With that, YOU DO NOT NEED TO DO ANYTHING WITH YOUR ACCOUNT AT THIS POINT unless you want to help and opt in (see item #3). 
  2. Prepaid Program Bookings: If you have prepaid for training sessions, camps, or other services, any and all prepaid credits will be applied appropriately and rescheduled when we reopen.
  3. Opt In: If you wish to support the club and employees during this time, please email us at [email protected] stating your name, phone number and say, “OPT-IN”.  This will indicate to us you wish to pay your full December dues to help the club recover from this second mandated shutdown.

Any dues will be reduced to reflect any club closures. There is an meeting with City of Sandy Council this evening. We will be attending this meeting via Zoom prior to making our offical member notice. Thank you.

Updated 9/8/20 

We have fantastic news!  As of Wednesday September 9, 2020, our pools, shower areas and hot tubs can officially re-open!  Sauna and Steam room are still closed under mandate. You can also play racquetball and pickleball as normal (face shields are the preferred face covering during these activities and are available at reception desk for only $5).  Shower towel service can resume with the token system. 

Links to Indoor and Outdoor Schedules below.  Please note: There are adjustments to aqua class times to allow for proper social distancing in locker rooms.  Family swim time is returning as well.  We ask that families use the family changing rooms/bathrooms at the indoor and outdoor pool areas to help prevent crowding in the locker rooms.

Thank you so much to those who have been patient and kind to one another and to the staff.  This modification is a positive step in the right direction toward normal, but we still need to be vigilant about disinfection and please do not attend the club if you have any signs of sickness or fever.  Masks are still required by mandate in the club except in the showers, personal changing rooms and while using indoor pool amenities.   

Finally, if you have been waiting for our pools, hot tubs and court services to reopen, now is the time to reinstate your membership!  If you are on a freeze, please make an appointment with membership at least 30 minutes prior to your planned use of the facilities to unfreeze your membership.  No freezes due to Covid-19 will be extended past 10/31/2020 unless for doctor substantiated medical reasons.  Any and all applicable cancels and changes need to be received by the 15th of the prior month.  We have been happy to be flexible in extending members freezes for the last 6 months, however moving forward, all club policies and deadlines are now back to normal, so please plan accordingly.

Dear Members,

 

Based on the Governor’s last press conference we want to take a moment to let you know MHAC's next steps. We are pleased that we can stay open to continue to serve you! 

The Governor has required beginning Friday, July 24th that masks and/or face coverings will be required while in the club.  Please plan accordingly.  We will have face shields available for purchase in the pro shop for those individuals who have a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask.  Because of this new mandate, you may find your favorite class taking place outside on nice days!  If it is a rainy day and class is being held inside, please plan to attend class with your face coverings.  Thank you for your willingness to be flexible and kind as we adapt in this very difficult time. Dear members, In this challenging time, we want to clarify a very important point. You are not required to wear a face mask while exercising. Any further details about the governor's face mask order is on the State of Oregon website.

Some good news! First, we are moving your exercise classes back into their original rooms for your comfort and convenience starting Monday, June 22nd. We are also opening our outdoor pool DECK as an extended outdoor seating area for our Club Cafe' for lounging, food, beverages (we have wine, beer and ciders now!) and suntanning beginning Monday June 22nd at 9:00am until the Cafe daily cafe closing schedule, for members age 13 and older. Social distancing required. Disinfect your chair/s before and after use. You will find disinfectant at the outdoor pool deck for your convenience. Come enjoy the upcoming sunshine and the pool deck! Thank you and we hope you are able to find sunshine and happiness in the upcoming weeks!

PHASE ONE MEMBER FAQ

Dear Members,

Great News!  We have just received permission to re-open the club.  We will be opening on Wednesday, May 27th at 5 am. Phase 1 hours will be slightly reduced to Monday through Friday from 5 am to 8 pm. Saturday and Sunday we will be open from 7 am to 4 pm.  Phase 1 will bring some changes to your club experience.  

There are many services and/or activities that we are not allowed to offer in phase 1.  The pools, spa areas, sauna, steam room and locker room  showers will be closed.  Locker area sinks and toilets are open. The lockers can be used for securing  items and changing.  During Phase One, Kidz Klub, Adventure Zone, basketball games, racquetball or pickleball games are not allowed. 

The basketball hoops and racquetball courts are available by reservation for one-person drills. Reservations may be made a day in advance once the club has opened. Court reservations are limited to one court reservation per membership/household per day. Reservations are limited to members who live in your immediate household.

Weight equipment and cardio equipment are available! The equipment has been spaced for social distancing.  Group exercise classes will be held in the basketball gym with the exception of Spin classes  All classes will have limited attendance based on room requirements. Classes will begin June 1, 2020. The schedule will be available upon the club opening May 27th, 2020. Please come dressed to exercise.  You will also need to bring your own water bottle or purchase a water.

Members are not required to wear a mask, however employees will be wearing a mask.  There are distancing dots and traffic flow arrows on the floor in necessary places.  Please honor them. 

The Phase One Class Schedule will begin on June 1st. To allow for social distancing all classes, with the exception of Spin, will take place in the Basketball Gymnasium. A Phase One class schedule will be made available upon the club re-opening. Spin I.T. classes require pre-registration due to class size being limited to 11 participants. Reservations may be made via phone or in person one day in advance.

Family basketball court time is available Monday to Thursday from 1-4pm, Friday from 1pm-8pm and Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 4pm.  You need to call the club and reserve your court time.

You have not been billed for May, and in conjunction with the elimination of cleaning weekend, this will make up for the days lost in March.  You will be billed your regular dues for June. We plan to be able to offer phase 2 amenities as early as June 17th.  If you wish to freeze June for any reason, we will extend the freeze for FREE.  Request must be submitting prior to June 1st.  Freeze requests beyond June will be charged the normal $15 a month and subject to normal freeze policies.
